God Hugs
He opened the box and peeked inside.
A sparkle came to his eyes.
For he was on his way to the doctor again today.
Only three, much too young, to understand.
Yet Dawson beheld his new prayer shawl and then
he noticed a red heart on the end.
Wrapping it round his small frame, feeling its warmth he exclaimed:
"Mommy, look! Do you see? It's my God hug!"
God hugs, God hugs,
everywhere always free.

Can you tell me now please?
It's the simple things. It's all nature.
When with friends I share tears or laughter.
In the morning when the stars yet shine
and I walk the dog, this is sacred time.
When the kitchen shares an aroma fine
and it's family dinner time!

When my body's tense, feeling all uptight
and I want my way and I must be right.
Self-importance has come over me.
I can't help myself. But all at once ...
see the silliness in the way I am.
And I laugh and God hugs me!

Can you tell me now please?
When you listen and you care for me,
I feel God's love that's protecting me.
When I lend a hand, or I share a smile,
when the music speaks I hear God awhile.
When our eyes behold the gentle God within,
and our heart and souls do meet.

Open your eyes, see the wonder all around!
Open your ears, hear the beauty in the sounds!
Open your heart that the love which abounds can
